Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all enjoyed the weekend and the lovely weather we had around here. I spent 3 days in Ottawa last week for work right when we had the heat wave and it was crazy HOT, so it was lovely to come back home and enjoy some beautiful weather 🙂 Here’s a list of the top items you should have in your wardrobe to make Summer dressing a breeze!! These are the most practical and versatile pieces to own and they sure guarantee not just a great foundation for many Summer outfits but a good solid list of go-to items to reach for during the season.
Classic white tee: There’s nothing more basic than a classic white tee. Goes with everything and it’s the easiest top to wear. I absolutely love the tees by target (they are the softest and only $8!), Old Navy (this one), J.Crew (this and this one) and Madewell (this one).
Striped tank: Easy to pair with denim shorts, a skirt, pants…and how can you not wear stripes in Summer? Or at any time of the year for that matter?! Whether you go with white and blue or black and white (this one is $12!), stripes are a must and always super chic!
Eyelet top: What’s Summer without a feminine and fun white eyelet top? I can never get enough of them and always find myself adding new ones to my “collection” 😉 Zara has some really great ones right now (this one, this one, and this one), and I also love this one and this one.
Denim jacket: The perfect piece to toss over your Summer looks is, without doubt, a denim jacket. I love how it doesn’t weigh down your outfits and how perfect it is to take when traveling.
Denim shorts: Short, 3/4 length, distressed, high-waisted…we all need a good pair of denim shorts in our wardrobe!
Pull-on Pants: Comfy and relaxed, these are the perfect bottom option for low-key weekends. Great for traveling (just what I wore to the airport on my trip to Ottawa) and as a cover-up too! I have these from Aritzia and love them!
Midi skirt: In linen, cotton, eyelet, button-front…is there anything more easy than pulling up an easy-breezy skirt? You can wear it with a crop top, a tee, a cami, sneakers, heels, flats…so versatile!
Wide cropped pants: Wide cropped pants are very in right now and the best part is that they are very comfy!
Floral dress: A maxi dress that you can count on to dress up and down is key for Summer!
Espadrille sneakers: If you like wearing sneakers then the espadrille version is something you need to try for Summer. My absolute favourite brand is Kaanas and I love how comfy their sneakers are.
Little white dress: The little white dress is basically Summer’s little black dress. As simple and easy as that.
Hat: I honestly don’t know what I’d do without a hat during Summer’s super hot days. Not only are they a super chic accessory but SO so practical!
Sunglasses: Long and narrow sunglasses (like these) are all the rave right now (they look terrible on me) but if you’re not on board with the trend, cat-eye and aviator sunnies are always flattering.
Sandals: If I had to choose just one style of sandals, it would be a classic single strap one. Although super basic and simple, they go with everything and never disappoint. Look for one that has a wooden or straw heel so that it looks fresh and light.
