Life File: 4 Reasons to Visit Sault Ste. Marie this Fall

One of the best things one could possibly do as soon as Fall peeks in is go for a road trip, long drive or hike to appreciate the beautiful foliage and its warm yet vibrant colours. As a travel writer for Porter I’ve been lucky to explore some amazing places that most likely I would have not visited on my own; and as a nature and outdoors lover I’ve been in awe of what our gorgeous country has to offer. Last Fall my friend Victoria and I went up to Sault Ste. Marie to work on some stories and absolutely loved exploring around. If you’re looking into going somewhere this Fall, I’ll give you 4 reasons to visit the city.

1. The Agawa Canyon Tour Train. This one-day tour goes through the most scenic views before arriving to the Agawa Canyon where you can do some hiking, enjoy a picnic, or explore around. If you want to read more about it, I wrote a detailed article here with everything you need to know! I’d recommend booking right away as it runs until October 14.

2. Lake Superior Coastal Drive. This scenic drive travels along Lake Superior, offering not just breathtaking views but many opportunities to stop to take in the beauty of the landscape.

The Voyageur’s Lodge & Cookhouse (great place to stop for a bite!)

3. Vibe Eatery. With a plant-based menu, this spot offers delicious meals, treats and juices. I wish we had one in Toronto because the food was incredible! I highly recommend eating here!

4. Hiawatha Highlands. For all of you outdoorsy people, you’ll love the trails at Hiawatha Highlands (also known as the Kinsmen Park). Whether you take a walk, a hike, or bring your bike, you’ll leave feeling refreshed and connected with nature.
